Strobing 101

What the heck is strobing!?! After just mastering how to slim down our face by contouring, makeup trends take a sharp turn and contouring is out the window for this summer. But let me tell you ladies and gentlemen, highlighting is here to stay!
Strobing is the new fancy word for highlighting... but like highlighting on steroids. This is perfect for summer since glowing, bronzed skin looks most natural.

Some points on the face to highlight to achieve strobing are:
  • bridge of the nose
  • top of the cheekbones
  • under the bottom lip
  • cupids bow (above upper lip)
  • center of the forehead
  • under the brow bone
This look can be achieved with cream products if you have dry skin and powder products if you have oily skin. Anything that is a light shimmery shade that will reflect light is perfect!

Happy Strobing! <3

Talk to you guys soon!

NYE Eye Look: Neutral

Hey guys, this is the look Sister #2 created for New Years Eve. It is more toned down and less dramatic compared to our other look.

To start, once again I used Mac Pro Longwear Paintpot in "Painterly".

#1: I packed on Mac's eyeshadow in "Retrospect" to my lid.

#2: Then I applied Mac "Tempting" in the crease.

#3: After applying my crease colour I put Mac "All That Glitters" on the outer part of my eyelid.

#4: I decided to use a brow bone color which was Mac's "Nylon".

#5: To finish the look, I applied a mascara and I chose Maybelline the Falsies in "Very Black"

For lips I used Baby Lips in "Cherry Me". I applied a couple of coats so that I could make the colour more vibrant.

That was my New Year's Tutorial for you guys and mine was not as dramatic as sister #1's!
Leave a comment if you guys tried it out or recreated a look and name the colors you used.

Best wishes to you guys in 2014!

NYE Eye Look: Dramatic

Our dramatic look for New Years Eve was created by Sister #1. She used a cool toned colours from the Naked 2 palette. Hope you enjoy.

Okay so to start, prime your eyes with a base. I used Mac Pro Longwear Paintpot in Painterly for my primer/base.

#1: I started by taking a pencil brush and placed the color "Blackout" in a v shape on my outer corner.

#2: I took a dense crease brush and feathered this color into the crease of my eye.

#3: I packed the colour "Verve" onto the remainder on my lid showing.

#4: I took a fluffy blending brush and blended the black and silver color together to make a gradient effect on the outer half of my lid.

#5: To finish off the look, I used my favourite black liquid liner and lined my upper lashline.

#6: For the lower lashline, I blended "Blackout" again on the outer third of eye.

#7: To polish off at the end I applied some black mascara but I would pop on some lashes if I had any.

And that's my final look. I like a dramatic eye especially for a holiday or party setting. Stay tuned to our blog for a more neutral eye look to sport to your party tonight.

Makeup Tutorial: Shaping your Brows

Hey guys! Okay so today, we are going to be talking about your lovely eyebrows! When doing makeup they are often looked past and neglected but I'm here to tell you guys that they are the secret to fabulous makeup in general.

Basically, your brow shape your face. If they are neat and sharp looking, they will attract the eye and make you look more polished overall. If they are unruly and messy, chances are your eye makeup wont look as nice and your face can look a bit drab instead of fab. Down below, we will be showing you the several steps that are necessary to achieve a framed, polished face.

Okay so starting with shaping! Start by getting a makeup brush or a small stick. We will be using this to line up the points on your brows. Okay so stay by resting your handle of your makeup brush against the side of your nose vertically. This will show where your brow should begin. If there is any hair on the opposite side of your brow, it needs to go.

For the arch, align the handle with the bottom of your pupil. This will show where your brow should arch.

Now to end off, line the handle up at the outer corner of your eye. this will identify where your brown should end.

Tips for filling in your brows:

  • Always use a light hand
  • When using a pencil, make small hair-like strokes
  • Use one to two shades lighter than your hair color
  • You want the most color to be throughout the arch and the ending

Makeup Tutorial: Glam Eye

Hey guys! Today we are going to be showing you a new eye tutorial. It is glamorous but neutral for during the day as well.

#1: Start by priming your eye lid with any base or primer of your choice.
#2: Apply a peachy gold shimmery eyeshadow all over the lid with a flat shader brush.
#3: Blend a copper color into the crease to add dimension
#4: Highlight the brow bone and inner corner with a shimmery shadow
#5: Line upper lashline with black liquid eyeliner and finish off with 2 coats of mascara on both upper and lower lashes

This eye look is great for all eye colours. The model here has hints of blue and green in her eyes but the golden/copper colour in the crease will brighten up brown eyes.

Okay so here are the four easy steps needed to create this look:
(Steps start at bottom left and go to upper right)

  1. Start by applying a eye shadow primer or base. This will ensure that your shadow will stay on all day long.
  2. Next, apply a shimmery color of your choice. We used Venus from the Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette.
  3. After that, use a medium matte brown color to deepen your crease. This will add definition and depth. We used Naked 2 and Faint combined together.
  4. Lastly, apply a generous amount of mascara or as much to your liking.

For Lips: Try a moisturizing lip stain. We used the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain.

Makeup Tutorial: Easy Eyes

Pinned Image

  1. Start by applying a nude eyeshadow to your eye lids. This shadow should be pretty similar to your skin color so you won't see it show up too much.
  2.
  3. Next, apply a bronze, gold color color to your crease. This will add definition to your eyes.
  4.
  5. Apply a pink, rosy color onto the outer corner of your lid.
  6.
  7. To line your eyes, choose any dark eyeshadow and apply on your top lash line with a small angled eyeliner brush.
  8.
  9. Now use a fluffy blending brush to blend out the liner on the outer corner of your lid.
  10.
  11. Use a small brush to drag some of the dark eyeshadow on your lower lash line.
  12.
  13. Lastly, finish off the look with 2 coats of mascara on your lashes.
